Surf Dawgs Clinch Playoff Appearance

They have their eye on the Frontier League crown, but for now the San Diego Surf Dawgs are happy to have guaranteed themselves a playoff berth.

"We'd like to go in as division champions, that's for sure," said reliever Ira Zmijewski.

The Surf Dawgs currently have a 81-74 record and when playoffs begin will be vying for the 1st Continental Baseball League championship in franchise history.
Erie Out of Playoff Race

Whether or not the Erie Seawolves would have been dangerous in the playoffs is now irrelevant. The team was mathematically eliminated from postseason contention today.

Before this season, the Seawolves last missed the playoffs in 2051. In the 40 years they have been a Continental Baseball League franchise, they have made the playoffs 22 times. In the last 10 seasons, the Seawolves have made the playoffs 5 times. Erie last won the CBL Premier Cup in 2042.
Postseason Bid Ends for Washington

The playoff hopes of the Washington Generals have been extinguished for the year. Today, the team was mathematically eliminated from qualifying for the 2053 postseason.

"It's weird, yesterday we were all talking about what we needed to do to make it to the CBL Premier Cup and now we're just counting down the days until the offseason, said Generals catcher Dave Silva.

Before this season, the Generals had made the playoffs 4 times in a row. In the 36 years they have been a Continental Baseball League franchise, they have missed the playoffs 27 times. In the last 10 seasons, the Generals have made the playoffs 5 times. Washington last won the CBL Premier Cup in 2050.
