Empire Earn 6-2 Home Win
|
New York turned a fine outing from starter Jim Shue into a victory over the Washington Generals at Gateway Field. The final score was 6-2. The winning pitcher was Shue, now 7-11. He tossed 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5. The triumph puts New York at 87-69 for the season.
Brad Benson had a key at-bat with one out in the bottom of the fifth for New York. With the bases loaded and the Empire leading 2-1, he hit a sacrifice fly.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Benson told the New York Times.
