Outlaws Beat Vancouver, 3-2
|
Nashville picked up a win at Nat Bailey Stadium, bumping off the Vancouver Grizzlies, 3-2. Pitcher Juan Vargaz was a major reason the Outlaws emerged victorious. In 8 innings, Vargaz surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. António Mora was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 30 of 35 save opportunities.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Greg Ritch came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Vancouver pitcher Von Harkenrider, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Nashville on top, 3-2.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Vancouver skipper Aneury Rodriguez, "and it cost us."
Nashville is 6th in the Frontier League with a record of 69-87.
