Before the game, Pat Young said he liked his chances. His instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing at Snapper Stadium, the Wild Burros pitcher blanked the Portland Beavers 8-0.

"I just had a feeling it was going to be my day," Young said in the clubhouse afterward. "My control was awesome. I could throw my fastball even when I was behind in the count."

The Mexican Hat starter held Portland scoreless, giving up 2 hits while registering 7 strikeouts and issuing 1 walk.

"We didn't have very many good at-bats," Beavers manager Jeff Pascarella said in a postgame interview. "When that happens, you usually lose."

In season stats Young shows a 2-5 record in 12 games, 60.1 innings, 73 strikeouts and a 5.82 ERA.
