The Winnipeg Goldeyes topped the Portland Beavers, 4-2, in Western League action at Snapper Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Winnipeg designated hitter Gus Ryan. Don Morgan notched his 8th save in 10 chances. Winnipeg now sits in last place in the Western League Battisti Division at 64-76.

Reynaldo De Jesús, the two-time All-Star , had a direct impact on the outcome. De Jesús contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the seventh inning to put Winnipeg up, 3-2.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Portland skipper Jeff Pascarella, "and it cost us."
