Goodman Hurls 1-0 Shutout

Miami dropped a 1-0 shutout to Joe Goodman and the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field today. The Marlins offered little resistance to Goodman, who stopped them on 3 hits, fanned 3 and walked 0.
"It just felt right today," the right-handed Goodman told reporters after the win. "Even with the rain, it didn't throw me off my rhythm."
Thus far this season, Goodman has tossed 73.1 innings in 17 starts, fanned 58 batters, walked 22 and put up a 3.07 ERA with 3 wins and 3 losses.

Kochan Sizzles with 25-Game Batting Streak

Win or lose, Koty Kochan just keeps on getting base hits -- game after game after game. He picked up 3 more today and has now stretched his hitting streak to 25 games.
The Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher went 3-for-5 today, but it wasn't enough to win the game. His club was defeated 4-3 by the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.
"It's amazing to watch him hit right now, but I don't think anybody's really mentioning it," one of his teammates said. "We just don't want to jinx him." Koty Kochan grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and flied out in the 9th.
This season Kochan has a 11-1 record with a 2.43 ERA.
