Floundering Bats Lose 7th Straight
|
The Washington Bats got a superb performance from pitcher Justin Casey, but the Phoenix Roadrunners still won the game, 5-3. Casey threw 6.0 innings of 2-hit ball. Weston Pilling got credit for the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 1.1 innings. Logan Schneider picked up the save, his 3rd.
Phoenix used the clutch hitting of Tavin Kang to capture the win. The center fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Roadrunners ahead, 5-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"Been a rough stretch for us," said Washington manager Pat Fiume.
The win moves Phoenix to a record of 20-12.
