Yankees Win Divisional Series
Friday, October 16th , 2009
The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat were on full display tonight at Yankee Stadium as the Divisional Series stretched to the final game.

It was the New York Yankees feeling the thrill of victory, with a 5-0 win over the Chicago White Sox, who were feeling the devastation of coming up short in their quest to make the Championship Series.

"There's no way around it -- this sucks," said Chicago manager Carlton Fisk. "Congratulations to New York, but I won't sugarcoat it, no one is happy about anything that transpired here tonight."

Instrumental in the 3-2 series win was first baseman Aramis Ramirez, who was named MVP. He hit .333 with a .429 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 3 runs.

"We've got the most important stat of all and that's this final win -- that's the one that matters," he said.

The New York Yankees will play against the Anaheim Angels in the next round. Anaheim won their series against the Cleveland Spiders 3 games to 0. The Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Divisional Series finishes.

Wizards Prevail, as Divisional Series Goes to the Wire
Thursday, October 15th , 2009
The Washington Wizards are off to the Championship Series after an exciting Divisional Series triumph.

Washington downed the Cincinnati Reds, but needed the entire series to do so, with a 6-3 win tonight at Wizards Park wrapping up the series 3-2.

"It's every guy in this room that made this happen. Without us all pulling in the same direction, we don't win this series," said Alex Gordon, who earned MVP honors for a standout offensive series.

Gordon put up a .400 with a .455 on-base percentage in the series. He also had 1 home runs, drove in 5 runs and scored 5 runs himself.

The Washington Wizards will play against the Houston Astros in the next round. Houston won their series against the Los Angeles Dodgers 3 games to 0. The Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Divisional Series finishes.
