Phillies Beat New York, 4-3
|
Evan Longoria was a major contributor to the 4-3 Philadelphia win over New York. The Phillies first baseman went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Reliever Talley Haines picked up the win. His record improves to 3-2. Eric Wordekemper took the loss. The 'W' lifts Philadelphia's record to 57-72.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With two out, Longoria hit a cutter from Eric Wordekemper for a run-scoring single. The Phillies, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"Feels good to be on the winning side," said Longoria.
