The New York Mets went home winners at Shea Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Eric Milton. Milton stifled the Arizona Firestorm, enabling New York to grab the 11-1 win. The last-place Firestorm have lost 4 straight games.

In the bottom of the second, Marlon Byrd hit a 2-run triple. The 6th triple of the season for the New York center fielder put the Mets on top, 2-1.

Arizona manager Bill Wearne called the blowout loss "just something that happens."
