Best Season In R+ Belongs To Ford

Chris Ford of the Buffalo Bulls had a fine season this year and today he accepted the Most Valuable Player Award for 2010.

The 21-year-old left fielder put up a .322 average and a .414 on-base percentage, piling up 113 hits, 24 doubles, 5 triples, 26 home runs, 67 RBIs and 69 runs scored.

He received 18 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Scott Ross of the Bowdoin Polar Bears finished second in voting, while Boys Schoonheim of the Miami Hurricanes finished third.

R+ Pitcher of the Year Award Announced

Daniel Tillman of the Michigan Wolverines impressed voters as one of the elite pitchers in the PBC Rookie College League this year. He capped off a sensational 7-3 season by taking home the coveted Pitcher of the Year Award today.

Making 22 starts, he tossed 102 innings, struck out 144, walked 34 and registered a 3.00 ERA.

He received 16 first place votes out of a possible 18. Norbert de Bie of the Tennessee Volunteers finished second in voting, while Iulio Faletau of the Florida Gators finished third with 1 first place vote.

R+ Best Manager, Kubera of the Nevada Wolf Pack

The Nevada Wolf Pack called a press conference to announce that field manager Cody Kubera had been named PBC Rookie College League Manager of the Year earlier in the day. Staffers congratulated the 36-year-old baseball guru as he approached the podium.

"This city has allowed me to craft a winning ball club," said Kubera. "When you take on a new job, there's always some adjustment period, but everyone here has been cooperative. From the bat boys on up. Here's to many more successful seasons for the Nevada Wolf Pack!"

Kubera led Nevada to a 53-35 record this year and a first place finish in the West Division.
