Dillon Shines in 13-7 Chicago Win
|
The Chicago Grizzlies defeated the Providence Reds, 13-7, at Bill Veeck Park today. Leading the charge for Chicago was right fielder Geoff Dillon. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 6. Manny Reynoso came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 3-4. The win puts Chicago at 37-61.
In the bottom of the seventh, Dillon had one of his most important at-bats: a 3-run home run off Don Krieger that staked the Grizzlies to a 5-4 lead.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Dillon told the Chicago Gazette. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
