Reds Win at Asheville, 3-1
|
In a tight game between the Providence Reds and the Asheville Tourists, pitcher Bill Conboy was terrific on the mound. The Providence right-hander helped his team to the 3-1 win. Doug Miles got the save, the 3rd for him this season. The win gives Providence a record of 7-3.
Providence used a timely hit from Orlando Pérez to get the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Reds ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Pérez told reporters after the game.
