Evansville beat Portland on the strength of starting pitcher Jerry Miccio's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-3. The win lifts Evansville to a record of 5-4.

Catcher Raúl Muñóz made an impact for Evansville, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Jonathan Gould in the bottom of the fifth. For the contest, Muñóz was 2 for 3 with a double.

"We ground out the win," said Muñóz. "That's all that matters."
