Ed Moraine pitched a dandy of a game to help the Lowell Knights beat the New York Gothams, 5-0. The winning pitcher was Moraine, now 7-7. He tossed 5.1 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 6. Lowell is now 42-47.
Tony Rodriguez had a big run-scoring double for the Knights in the top of the first inning. With Lowell leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a forkball from Nate Travis, who is tied for 10th in the EL in quality starts with 10, and swatted a double to left. It was his 17th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Knights ahead, 2-0.
Lowell manager Jason Cary praised his team's "businesslike approach."
