Knights Upend ValleyCats, 7-3

The Lowell Knights had to overcome a big game from Tri-City left fielder Ron Doran to leave William "Rip" Rowan Park with a victory. And they did, winning, 7-3. Doran was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner was Ed Moraine, who threw 95 pitches over 6.2 innings. The left-hander was charged with 3 runs on 7 hits. The ValleyCats, now 36-46, have lost 5 straight.
Erik Dempsey went 1 for 4 for Lowell. The 30-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With no one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring single off Matthew Lefebvre. It was his 64th hit of the season.
"Today was a lot of fun," said Dempsey.
