Raucous Nap Lajoie Park Crowd Propels Reds to 3-1 Victory; Series Tied at 1

The Providence Reds relied on the hitting of pitcher Ben Pearce to get by the New York Gothams, 3-1, in Game 2 of the Division Series today. For the game, Pearce threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball. The clubs are now tied, 1-1.
Pearce, a native of Valley Station, Kentucky, was dealing all game. He kept New York hitters off-balance, while giving the Reds 7 quality innings. Pearce threw 87 pitches, allowing 2 hits and striking out 3.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Pearce.
Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday at Polo Grounds in New York.
