Dark Horses Get One-Run Win at Evansville
The Austin Dark Horses beat the Evansville Otters, 3-2. Austin pitcher and Clinton, Utah, native Mike Benford led the way. Benford went 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 2. His record improves to 4-3. Wally Bascombe converted his 11th save in 14 tries.

Robert Alvarez, the 25-year old left fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Alvarez contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Austin up, 3-0.

"Winning never gets dull," said Benford.

With the win, Austin pushed its record to 88-75.
