Good production from shortstop Marty Veges helped the Winnipeg Goldeyes topple the Mexican Hat Wild Burros, 7-2. Veges was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs for the Goldeyes. The save went to Eric Bowe, number 1 for him. The loss lowers the Mexican Hat record to 3-5.

Winnipeg used the timely hitting of Roberto Martinez to capture the win. The second baseman stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Goldeyes on top, 6-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but he made it count.

"Marty leaves the last at-bat behind him, whether it was good or bad, and goes up there and competes on every pitch," said Winnipeg manager David Jones.
