New York won the game in part because of Jose Rubio. The center fielder ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Gothams ahead, 3-0. For the game, Rubio had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Purkis. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
