In a low-scoring contest, Pittsburgh pitcher Wayne Fallon was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 2-1 win. Fallon picked up the win for Pittsburgh, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 2 hits. Had Jerry Palomo not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Palomo hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the River Bandits.

"Wayne has got a slow heartbeat," said Pittsburgh manager Chris Mayer. "He doesn't panic or anything."
