The New York Gothams beat the Tri-City ValleyCats, 9-5, with major props going to designated hitter Doug Nicholas. On the day, Nicholas was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times for the Gothams. The Gothams bumped their record to 90-71 with this latest triumph.

New York used a well-timed hit by Carlos Luna to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Gothams ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

New York manager Timothy Widholm was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.
