Reza Slugs Reds to 12-5 Win
|
The Providence Reds beat the Detroit Diesel, 12-5, at Nap Lajoie Park. The win was due in part to designated hitter Ruben Reza, who hit 3 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring three times. Providence, at 91-70, is 7 games up in the Eastern League Heinhsohn Division.
Reza had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-0 fastball from Bill Basile, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Reds a 5-4 lead. It was the 29th home run of the year for Reza.
"We maximized our offense today," said Providence skipper X. Animal. "That makes everyone's life easier."
