River Bandits Lose, 7-2, to Asheville
|
The Asheville Tourists trumped the Pittsburgh River Bandits, 7-2, at NRCS Field. Asheville right fielder Doug May was terrific. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Picking up the win was Gary Howard. He went 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits. The right--hander struck out 9 and walked 2. With the victory, the Tourists upped their record to 94-64.
Asheville grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when May, who finished 2nd in the EL in home runs with 37 last year, hit a solo home run. His 33rd home run of the season put the Tourists out in front, 2-1.
"I just tried to make good contact," said May.
