The Detroit Diesel bested the Providence Reds, 6-4, at Donald Perrault Field. Matthew Hidalgo was one of the standouts. He was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Matt Brennan, the winner, improved to 15-6. He held the Reds to 2 runs on 6 hits over 7.2 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Derrek Stone earned his 35th save in 39 chances.

Hidalgo made an early impact for Detroit when he stroked his 20th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which came in the bottom of the third, put the Diesel on top, 3-0.

"Enjoyed this one," Hidalgo told the Detroit Bulletin. "But it's back to work tomorrow."

With the win, Detroit has a record of 72-86. Providence falls to 96-62.
