Beavers Suffer One-Run Loss at Asheville
|
The Asheville Tourists got a marvelous performance from pitcher Héctor Caranza. The right-hander kept the Portland offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 3-2 Asheville victory at Azalea Park. Brad Cervantes earned his 6th save in 9 chances. With the victory, the Tourists record stands at 74-79.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Tourists had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when catcher Fu-po Da hit a 2-run single. The single came off Pete Foster and made the score 3-0, Tourists. Da went 2-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs.
"It was our day today," Da told the Asheville Gazette. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
