Wild Burros Earn Win with Late Rally
|
The Mexican Hat Wild Burros had to overcome a fine effort from Portland pitcher Nick Valentine to win, 1-0, at The Big Sombrero. Valentine went 7 innings and allowed no runs. Reliever Steve Fife picked up the win. His record improves to 9-1. Chris Fazio took the loss. With the win, the Wild Burros hiked their record to 79-68.
Had T.J. Coslett not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Coslett hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Wild Burros.
"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Jeff Pascarella.
