With left fielder Doug Nicholas leading the charge, the New York Gothams defeated the Lowell Knights, 4-2, at Polo Grounds. Nicholas was 1-1 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 2. Nate Travis earned the save, his 11th. The win for the Gothams lifted their record to 30-20.
Carlos Luna came through for New York when he hit a 2-run single in the bottom of the fifth. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, he hit a two-strike fastball to left field, staking his team to a 3-1 lead.
Nicholas called the win "what playing unselfish baseball looks like."
