The inspired effort of Mexican Hat third baseman Don May was not enough to prevent a loss, 10-7, to the Austin Dark Horses. May went 3-5 with 3 doubles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Austin reliever Wally Bascombe got the win, raising his record to 2-2. Shawn Cook was tagged with the loss. The win puts Austin at 25-23 this season.

Had Robert Alvarez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Alvarez hit a bases-clearing double. That made the score 10-7, in favor of the Dark Horses.

"Big team win," Alvarez said later.
