The Providence Reds defeated the Boston Ninja Black Sox, 8-5. Doing his part was shortstop Carlos San Martin, who went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Doug Murphy, the winning pitcher, improved to 7-1. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 9 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 8 and walking 2. With the win, Providence pushed its record to 28-18.

San Martin came through for Providence with one out in the bottom of the fourth. With Providence trailing 3-2, San Martin hit a grand slam home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Reds up, 6-3.

"We'll grab a cold beverage tonight and go after another win tomorrow," San Martin said.
