Reds 5-2 Winners Over Brooklyn
|
The Providence Reds handed the Brooklyn Hoodrats a 5-2 defeat at Nap Lajoie Park. Left Fielder Javier Ochoa starred for Providence. He went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. The win went to David Kroeger in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Dylan Dickinson took the loss. Simon Prochaska notched his 9th save of the season.
Tobias Ortiz had a big 2-run double for the Reds in the bottom of the first inning. With Providence leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from 24-year old left-handed pitcher Dylan Dickinson and swatted a double to center. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Reds ahead, 3-0.
"We did a lot of things right," said Ortiz.
By defeating Brooklyn, the third-place Reds improved to 20-22.
