Canales 4-for-5 to Fuel Goldeyes Offense
|
Tony Canales, who is tied for 4th in the WL with a .406 on-base percentage, led Winnipeg to a triumph over Phoenix. The final score was 7-5. The right fielder went 4 for 5, falling a triple shy of the cycle. He scored 2 runs and added 3 RBI. Winnipeg reliever Jeffrey Muttart picked up the win, raising his record to 2-0. Ryan Haynie was tagged with the loss. Dave Limon was credited with the save for Winnipeg, his 6th of the season.
Canales had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a first pitch fastball from Steve Bardin, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Goldeyes a 7-5 lead. It was the 8th home run of the year for Canales.
"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Canales.
The win puts Winnipeg at 20-17 this season.
