Beavers Upend Goldeyes, 4-3
The Portland Beavers defeated the Winnipeg Goldeyes, 4-3, at Shaw Park today. Leading the charge for Portland was second baseman Henry Vargas. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Portland pitcher Wayne Fallon got the win. He's now 3-2. Mike Leal was tagged with the loss. Portland is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 10th in 29 games.

With Portland leading 2-0 in the top of the second, Vargas hit a changeup from Mike Leal for a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Beavers ahead, 4-0.

"Nice to tuck this win away," said Vargas.
