Gothams Stumble, Lose to Tourists
|
Asheville right fielder Neil Shepherd was a significant contributor in his team's 8-2 triumph over the New York Gothams. He was 4-4 with 4 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Asheville. John Santo got the win, improving to 1-2. He held the Gothams to 1 run on 5 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 2. At 15-9, the Tourists have played well so far.
Making an impact for the home team was Doug May. In the bottom of the first, the four-time The Ozzie Glove winner had a 3-run home run. That made the score 6-0, Tourists.
"We're in a funk and we need to shake ourselves out of it," said New York manager Timothy Widholm.
