Tourists Pick Up 3-0 Road Win Over Boston
|
Asheville and Boston duked it out and the Tourists came out victorious.
Boston got a terrific performance from pitcher David Ramírez, but it wasn't enough to beat the Asheville Tourists. Asheville won the Blacksox Ballpark contest, 3-0. Ramírez threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Gary Howard got the win, improving to 3-1. He worked 6.1 innings, giving up no runs on 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3.
Asheville relied on the bat of Neil Shepherd to get the win. The right fielder ripped a solo home run in the top of the second inning to put the Tourists ahead, 1-0. For the game, Shepherd had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Jeremy Reinholt.
The win leaves Asheville with a record of 8-7.
