|
The Tri-City ValleyCats defeated the Winnipeg Goldeyes, 6-4, at Shaw Park. Keith Steinmeyer, who is tied for 6th in the EL in bases on balls with 64, was a standout performer for Tri-City. His 4 hits included 3 singles and 1 double -- this in addition to the 1 run he scored and 2 he knocked in. Tri-City reliever Adam Westfall picked up the win, raising his record to 3-1. Dave Limon was tagged with the loss. Lee Gregory got the save, his 40th in 44 chances.
Logan Irwin came through with a big-time hit for Tri-City. The designated hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
Tri-City manager Connor Stalker commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
The win gives Tri-City a season record of 77-59.
