Blue Jays Pick Up 9-7 Win Against Asheville
|
The Schenectady Blue Jays had to overcome a big game from Asheville designated hitter Russ Israelson to leave Azalea Park with a victory. And they did, winning, 9-7. Israelson was 2 for 3 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. The Schenectady winning streak has reached 3 games.
Schenectady used the hitting of Steve Niemi to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Blue Jays on top, 2-0. For the game, Niemi had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Niemi.
