Though he had a stellar game, John Daye could not prevent his team, the Tri-City ValleyCats, from losing, 8-5, to the Detroit Diesel. Daye went 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Detroit reliever Austin Lukas picked up the win, raising his record to 2-1. Nick Wood was tagged with the loss. Brian Aaberg sewed up the save, his 37th.

Detroit took the lead, 8-5, on Lance Kaufman's 1st home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Tri-City pitcher Nick Wood in the bottom of the eighth.

In postgame comments to the Detroit Citizen, Kaufman said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."

The triumph puts Detroit at 71-61 for the season.
