ValleyCats Win Thriller, 6-4
|
Tri-City ValleyCats starter Vic Dobie pitched a strong game against the New York Gothams at William "Rip" Rowan Park, leading the ValleyCats to victory, 6-4. The winner was Leonardo Martínez in relief. His record improves to 5-3. Armando Matta took the loss. The third-place ValleyCats improved to 61-65.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Tri-City designated hitter Spike Griffin, facing Armando Matta, had a 2-run home run. It gave the ValleyCats the 6-4 win.
Griffin described the clubhouse as "kind of rowdy" after the game.
