Dark Horses Eke Out 7-6 Win Versus Phoenix
Phoenix got a terrific game from catcher Orlando Mata. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Austin, 7-6. Mata was 2 for 3 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Jeremy Lutz, who is a two-time All-Star, was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 11 hits, with no walks and 3 strikeouts. The Unforgiven drop to 5-7, as their stumbling start to the 2089 season continues.

Austin shortstop Lorenzo Martínez contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the sixth. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a 2-run single. It was his 1st hit of the season and put the Dark Horses ahead, 6-3.

"We got the victory," said Martínez. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
