Dark Horses Fall Short, 3-2, at Evansville
|
The bats were silent much of the day at Otters Stadium. But former first round draft pick Bill Van Slyke produced just enough offense to carry the Otters past the Austin Dark Horses, 3-2. Van Slyke was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Evansville pitcher Jeff Perdue got the win, upping his record to 9-8. Joaquín Tavárez got the loss. Evansville is now 51-68, while Austin is 79-40.
Van Slyke contributed in the bottom of the third. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a run-scoring double. It was one at-bat among others that helped Evansville get the win.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Austin manager Brian Barrett.
