Van Slyke reaches base 4 times as Otters Squeeze Past Chicago
|
Otters center fielder Bill Van Slyke put his stamp on his team's 8-7 win over the Chicago Grizzlies. Van Slyke went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for Evansville in the contest. Evansville reliever Brock Roberts picked up the win to move to 1-0. Tim Cagle suffered the loss. With their winning streak at 4, the Otters have raced to a strong start this season.
Evansville used the timely hitting of Mike Reddin to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Otters on top, 8-7. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Nothing is scripted in this game," said Reddin.
