Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Reds
Behind the hitting of Ben Pearce, the Providence Reds stopped the Boston Ninja Black Sox, 9-2. Pearce threw 5.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the Reds. Providence reliever Ai-de Pai picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Carlos Fernández took the loss. The win for the Reds lifted their record to 67-44.

Providence got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Orlando Pérez. The third baseman stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Reds ahead, 6-2. Though it was his only hit in 2 at-bats, it had a major impact on the outcome.

Said losing manager Jeremy Reinholt: "Give the Reds credit. They took advantage of our mistakes."
