Diesel Score Late to Beat Tourists, 3-2
|
Getting an impressive start from Matt Brennan, Detroit beat Asheville by the score of 3-2. Detroit reliever Rafael Pérez picked up the win, upping his record to 4-1. Gus Beck was saddled with the loss. The 4th-place Diesel now have a win-loss record of 49-57.
Detroit took a 2-1 lead on Nick Beatty's 1st triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which Beatty hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Asheville pitcher Gus Beck visibly frustrated.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Detroit manager Tyler Brigham said.
