Virgil Rivero Out 4-5 Weeks With Injury

Eugene fans will be disappointed to learn that Virgil Rivero suffered a strained biceps while throwing a pitch in today's game. After the doctor informed the Eugene Emeralds manager that Rivero was expected to miss 4-5 weeks, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the reliever could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.

Jerry Waller Injured, Out for Year

Doctors in Great Lakes said Jerry Waller might not play anymore this year. The Loons reliever suffered a torn flexor tendon in his elbow during a game against the Eugene Emeralds and will be out for at least 11-12 months. Club officials told BNN they do not expect him to return to the team this season.
Waller has taken the mound for 7 relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 0-0 record with a 3.62 ERA. The Great Lakes reliever has limited opposing batters to a .259 batting average.

Santos Ups Hit Streak to 35 Consecutive Games

The Aberdeen Ironbirds stopped the Lake Elsinore Storm today 3-1 and Santiago Santos collected a base hit yet again. The Aberdeen left fielder finished with 1 hit to run his consecutive-game hitting streak to 35.
"I want to get a hit every time up," a visibly excited Santos told reporters after the contest. "I want to get a hit every game I play. Right now, I feel like I could take this streak to 100 games." Santiago Santos grounded out in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, singled in the 6th and grounded out in the 7th.
So far this year Santos has 6 home runs and a .436 batting average.
