Conger Magnificent in 9-0 Jacksonville Triumph
Saturday, May 29th, 1971
"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.

Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.

Greg Conger of the Jacksonville Suns proved the point at Wolfson Park today, holding the Charlotte Hornets to 2 hits in a complete game shutout victory.

"Conger made us look real bad today," Hornets manager Aaron Kyle said in his postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."

Conger had 8 strikeouts and gave up 2 walks as the Suns took the 9-0 win.

To this point in the season, Conger shows a 3-2 record, 7 starts, 59 innings, 33 strikeouts and a 1.53 ERA.
