Bang-up Game: Lipscomb Slams 3 Homers
Thursday, July 27th , 2023
The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Aberdeen Ironbirds today.
Harrisburg third baseman Trey Lipscomb tripled up on the home runs to propel the Senators to the 11-4 win at FNB Field.
"We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Aberdeen manager Roberto Mercado said. "Lipscomb hit the heck out of the ball."
In addition to the homers, Lipscomb collected 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings."
Trey Lipscomb hit a solo-shot off Zach Showalter in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Zach Showalter in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Zach Showalter in the 4th, flied out in the 6th and flied out in the 8th.
This year Lipscomb is batting .237 with 9 hits and 4 home runs. He has scored 9 times and has batted in 8 runs.
