Alvarez Bangs 3 HR Against Curaçao
Monday, January 15th , 2024
Cuba left fielder Yordan Alvarez put on a dazzling display of power at Curaçao Stadium against the Curaçao. In the 21-1 Cuba victory, Alvarez penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.
"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Curaçao manager Joe Maddon said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."
Along with his three home runs, the 26-year-old had 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Alvarez said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."
Yordan Alvarez struck out in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Jaydenn Estanista in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Jamdrick Cornelia in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Jorge Organista in the 5th and flied out in the 6th.
