"You didn't think we would pull it off, did you?" said Cuba manager Carlos Tosca in the clubhouse after his team earned a 6-4 win over Venezuela in the finals of the 2024 World Baseball Championship tournament.
"Look," he said, "it doesn't matter what the outsiders thought. This club believed in themselves. They proved it all year long heading into this tournament. I can't imagine a better group to celebrate with."

The games are over, the dust has settled, and the opening round of the World Baseball Championship tournament is in the books. The surviving teams are already planning their runs at the 2024 crown, while the eliminated clubs can only lick their wounds. Those players left sitting at home will try to build on their tournament performances, hoping for better luck next time.
