MID Announces Outstanding Player Award

He may have less experience than most of his Midwest League peers, but that didn't slow Mike Johansen down at all in 2039.
At the age of 23, the Clinton center fielder has been named the winner of the Midwest League Most Valuable Player Award.
He had a .317 batting average and a .381 on-base percentage this year. In 130 games he piled up 133 hits, 23 doubles, 12 triples, 11 home runs, 44 RBIs and 81 runs scored.
"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."
He received 16 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Joe Spears of the South Bend Cubs finished second in voting, while Chad Harvala of the Kane County Cougars finished third.
